Lockdown Learnings Special

During lockdown we’ve been reaching out to global tech leaders in an interview series called ‘Lockdown Learnings’, getting their insight about how they’re managing through the current crisis and much more.

From Marcin (Spotify) in Stockholm to Shilpa (Deloitte) in London we’ve been struck by how open our guests have been to discussing the personal as well as the professional, the bad as well as the good.

We’ve added 3 more interview highlights in the last few days, all of which are listed below and with tech leaders who couldn’t be more different or come from more varied backgrounds.

The full interviews are available to our CTO Academy members.

Have a great week and continue to stay safe.

Wisdom Of The Crowd

From our opening 6 interviews we collected some of the key thoughts into this blog post. Interesting to see the different views and perspectives particularly around what our interviewees view as the key attributes of successful tech leaders …

Team building (eye for talent)
Tech advocacy
Risk taking
Putting people first

Tech Leaders Talk Lockdown & More

Gitte has been an agile coach at leading companies like Spotify, LEGO and IBM for more than a decade and has been independent since 2013.

Her main focus in the last few years has been communication and implementing psychological safety as well as responsibility and accountability.

It is essential for Gitte to be authentic, to cut to the chase, and help people become themselves, so they can succeed both at work and in their personal lives. This really comes across in the interview.

“You need to create a space where it’s ok to be uncomfortable and to make mistakes”

Graham started out in Engineering and the Oil industry before transferring to Telecommunications in 2000.

Since then he has built 20 years of knowledge and experience across many sectors of how to use digital and consumer technology to transform businesses and has specialised in modernising companies that are faced with digital disruption within their sector.

“BCP will need to become an inherent part of your operating model and not a bolt on, as companies understand how they can rapidly transform into a distributed workforce”

28 years as an officer in the Norwegian Armed Forces means that Petter brings rich insight into our chats about technology leadership.

Talking to us from Oslo he talks us through his lockdown experience and where he sees a future full of change and possibility.

“Try the impossible more often because the real learning experiences come when you try the impossible”
